These beautiful Calendula Seeds were harvested in my backyard.
I adore my calendula flowers. As long as you don't do any major tilling and allow some flowers to fully mature and drop seeds, these will re seed themselves year over year and spread beautifully. So, you only need to plant once. They are one of the first things to pop up in the Spring and one of the last to die in the Fall. It is currently mid November in Toronto and I just snipped a few blooms for a boquet.
Calendula is a great medicinal flower that can be used in tea or for healing salves etc. However, I am not an herbalist or a doctor, so please do your own research and consult a professional before using them for this purpose.
They should be sowed after your last frost date approx. 4' apart, 1/4' deep. Alternatively, you can also start 4 weeks early indoors.
These seeds were harvested from well established plants in my backyard that have never been sprayed or chemically fertilized.
