These Echinacea Seeds were harvested from my neighbour Laurie's beautiful front yard pollinator garden. She has the most beautiful Echinacea flowers.
Echinacea is a perennial which means that once you establish the flower it will return year after year provided it is in a suitable location.
Echinacea seeds need to be cold stratified for sprouting. This means that you must plant them in the Fall for sprouting in the Spring. Or, you can put them in your fridge for a few weeks (min 7 days) and plant them in the Spring. At this point they can be planted directly or started indoors.
Start them indoors 6-8 weeks before the last frost date. You can also sow seeds directly in the ground in Fall or Winter. Keep in mind that growing echinacea from seed may mean waiting for two years to see blossoms.
Echinacea is a great medicinal flower that can be used in tea or for healing salves etc. However, I am not an herbalist or a doctor, so please do your own research and consult a professional before using them for this purpose.
